30 CSS Techniques for a Unique Navigation

CSS is a very important element of what we call a “structurally sound” web design. CSS turns strips of code and interactive features into a working design. This is especially true for CSS based menus. Giving your users a creative way to interact with pages, categories, and other aspects of your site is a great way to keep them coming back. Not only that, but your navigation will be easily accessible since it will stand-out. Your users won’t get lost, they’ll always know how to get to where they need.

If you want to find out the different CSS features you can incorporate into your navigation, it’s important that you view other menus as inspiration, and you know how they work. Below we’ve hand-selected 30 Best CSS Techniques for a Unique Navigation that are sure to bring creativity to your menu.

Calmicity Wordpress Theme

I released a similar theme a long time ago I released a similar theme a long time ago and by that I mean years ago. Of course then it was not as well designed, nor compatible with browsers or coded to standards, it lacked everything a modern day theme is built on.

Calmicity, a name derived from the words ’simplicity’ and ‘calm’ is my latest WP theme that focuses on the web2.0 style as well as SEO aspect of today’s ever evolving web industry. It’s an adsense ready site which means that whether for personal use or as a business blog, it’s tuned and ready to make you money.

It’s widget ready and comes with everything you need to make a lasting impression with your blog readers.  I will be re-releasing a 3column version of this theme soon and also different color combination, so if you have any requests, voice them now or forever hold your peace. Hope you like it!

Landing Page Designs

There’s absolutely nothing worse than those long scrolling landing pages. Those one page sites that take you hours to scroll to the bottom of, only to end up scrolling all the way back without a single clue of what it is you’re reading or trying to find. That’s bad business right there!

I have now designed a simple yet stylish, functional landing page that minimizes scroll and helps you organize your content in a way that users wont be scared to hang around on your page. I have also left a spot for ads, or possibly a newsletter form or contact/registration form.

It’s really very simple, if it looks professional, chances are users will last longer on your page. To give you an example, I was hired by www.America.edu recently to setup a quick landing page for one of their free student services, the real estate virtual assistant page. See how simple and organized it looks? What more can you want out of a landing page. This one in particular I have copyrighted, and it comes in different styles, there’s the horizontal navigation version of the design, and the vertical one. There’s also one with 2 wide columns and one with 4! Trust me, even with a 4 column theme it looks hot! ;)

Vacation Design

This Vacation related site was redesigned recently. The layout, as with my trademark style was clean, professional and made it easy to setup a content filled site yet still look organized. 3 days was that time taken to design this site.

    Vacation Site

After designing this site I had a good friend translate content for me, and realized I had a lot of sections mixed up, took me almost a day to correct it all! Lesson learned! I don’t know why most of my clients these days are polish, or British, it could be my old websites ranking keywords.
